2013-01-13 - Ready for the week

Hello everyone,

Well, all two or three of you that read this.  Hi Mom.  :)

It was a pretty relaxing weekend.  Didn't really do much of anything.  Friday night, had burgers, sweet potatoes, and foil wrapped veggies and watched Zero Dark Thirty....That show was solid.  Spoiler alert, we got Bin Laden..

Went to a rowing clinic on Saturday and found out I'm a bad rower.  I guess not bad, but have some flaws that I need to work on.  We only have 2 rowers at the gym which is very frustrating to say the least.  I wish we had a few more so we could use them more often to get better.  My major flaw is the ankle flexibility/mobility.  But now that i know, I have several things i can do to fix it.  :)

Got back from the clinic and had James, Sarah, Sasha over for dinner then watched Jurassic Park.  I forgot how much I liked that show.  :) I can't wait to watch the next one :) I might read the books again.  Who knows.

Spent most of the day today cooking.  I like cooking so it is relaxing, I wish i had a little bigger kitchen it would make things a lot easier, but I'll deal with what I have. :) Made Chili, Jambalaya, Hard Boiled eggs, Home Made Mayo.  I'll link the recipes below, putting a hyperlink in is a pain in the ass.

Oh, I am going to be in charge of putting signs in yards for Jennifer McDade and pretty excited about her running this year.

Here is the Cookies recipe we made.  They are absolutely delicious.  We have some with Strawberries and some with Raspberries.  I think the best are the Raspberries, but we will see.

Big weekend in Springfield coming up.  I'm really looking forward to it.  Should be a good time.  I do however think that it's going to be sad when I finish competing and am not able to reward myself with a frozen treat afterwards.  That is going to be awfully difficult.  Gotta stay strong only a few more weeks until W30 is over and I can indulge in the finer things.......

It's been a few days since I posted last. Yeah not really trying to make it a daily blog as listening to me talk about whole30 for 30 days would be boring. But I have a few things that have happened and wanna get them down on paper..Or is it up in the cloud, Bleh whatever. On this blog.

I have written my goals at the gym on the board for quarter 1 2013 (end of April)
1) rope climb
2) pistols consistently
3) 300# clean
4) bar MUps

Item 1 check. It wasn't as daunting as I thought it would be.

The others are a work in progress. Ill let everyone know when I get them. I'd like to say 300# clean will be accompanied by a jerk, but maybe that will be quarter 2.

Diet has been fine...third time doing the whole30 and it is getting easier and easier as I build more and more recipes. Already feel lighter and haven't weighed myself yet.

Pretty excited for the reward after this whole30. We are going on a ski trip to the UP. Leaving 1/30 coming back 2/3. It should be a good time.
Anyone have any advice for it feel free to let me know.

I have seen a lot of people PR in the gym the last week or so. It's super exciting to see and I really do enjoy watching their expression when they execute a lift or "get" the movement they were struggling to find. It Gives me chills.

Bowling sucked for multiple reasons.
Mainly I wasn't drinking. But other than that there was a major elephant in the room. She cause some major rage.
Always waiting on that one person to realize it is there turn. She was a sub on another team so I cut her a little slack. But when she was up on both lanes at the same time because her own team even passed her I almost blew up. I didn't.
Her antics were not limited to delaying while it was her turn but between her turns (ball 1 and ball2) she would head back to the back of the bowling area and sit down for a drink before throwing her second ball. Holy crap. That was awful. We were the last ones done by 20 minutes and by the end the bar was mostly cleared out as well.

So I made beef jerky. Turned out wonderful. Ill be making more of this for sure.

2013-01-06 - SUNDAY FUNDAY

Well, don't get used to this. Two days in a row will probably not be the regular status quo. But was very productive today and felt like finishing it off with a brain dump on here.

Woke up a little later than I would have liked, but my body needed the rest. Started out the morning by putting a roast in the crock pot.

Smells delicious.

Got a few things returned and all of the grocery shopping done before noon. JACKPOT! Kohls and Bergners I've lost hours in those stores before.
Got a sweet new pair of warm up pants though so totally worth it.

Went to open gym at 2 today...good group of people there. Was planning to do my max effort kettle bell swings to find my unbroken amount. But was talked into a main site WOD instead.
5 Rounds for time.
10 toes 2 bar
10 snatch (75#)
10 wall balls

Pretty good WOD, ill bet there will be a similar one in the open this year maybe an 8-10 min amrap.

Got home at 3 ish and was planning to relax before cooking by watching Battleship....pretty solid movie. It's like transformers and Independence Day mixed but no Shia LaBouf and no Will Smith. It did have Rihanna so take that for whatever it's worth. I'd say 6/10 I was entertained the whole time.

Then came up to attack food for the week. Made some buffalo chicken casserole. Mmmm delicious. Probably my favorite whole30/Paleo meal. Cavemen would definitely eat this as often as possible.

We found a recipe for whole30 "crackers"
Turned out tasting just like saltines.

Which is solid, BUT WAIT!!

They can transport the buffalo chicken casserole to my mouth!

Winning.

Oh and the roast was awesome.

We made Paleo Mayo , deviled eggs, buffalo chicken casserole that I've modified a little to make more my own, crackers, and roast. Should get us through the week of lunches.

Oh.... and the cashier at Kohls really burned my Sass.
First of all the return policy at Kohls is the most ridiculous thing ever.
You can have the lowest sale price in the last 13 weeks in store credit.
Or
You can exchange it for something of equal value. Well the in store credit was worth $13 and the tag said $40.

Well when trying to check out at the cashier desk, the lady couldn't figure it out and was trying to give us $16. We walked to the customer service area and were promptly checked out and sent on our way. Moral of the story. Go to the manager as often as possible.

Good night.

2013-01-05 Cindy

So here we go. A new year and a new set of goals. I've found myself torn over doing the whole30/biggest winner at the gym this time. I have been achieving my goals by being 80/20 and been fairly happy.

One of my goals is to be more in tune with the little things to reach the big things. Setting milestones to reach my bigger goals.

2012 was an awesome year with lots of growth physically and mentally and I think 2013 can be even better.
Now onto the good stuff.
For the time being ill just post my smaller goals for the month.
Finish whole30 100% clean (except my post WOD shake) I know that it's cheating but as I'm trying to build muscle I think this is necessary. It wasn't an easy choice because when I do something I wanna go all out and do it 100% but I've settled that the shake will be acceptable.

Today I was planning an easy skill day in the gym with one of the girl WODs tossed into the mix. Well this girl WOD was not just any WOD ...Cindy...ugh 20 minute met con, my nemesis. But that is an area I need to improve on for 2013 is my endurance. Finished 20 rounds which I'm happy with.

Any suggestions for endurance training would be awesome.
I'm planning two days a week doing an E-WOD. I think week one will be:
Run 1 mile for time
10 minutes EMOM sprint 100 meters
Run 800 for time.

I'm thinking tomorrow I might knock this one out. Anyone is welcome to join.

Nothing really burned my Sass today or really in 2012, except for the lack of showers at the gym, that sucks and is frustrating. But I know it's frustrating for Tom and Janelle too, so I'm dealing.

Hope you enjoyed and look for more in the future. :)

Thanks Cindy

Oh and I climbed a rope for the first time ever, yesterday. That is fun.

2012-09-10_Corn Crib & Cooking

SO Much Fun........That's all I can say.  I have so much fun whenever Fit Bodies peeps get together.  I had so much fun this past weekend competing at the Corn Crib.
Fit Bodies was well represented all over the podium.  :) The results are on The Body Compounds facebook page, but in short out of the 12 teams that climbed onto the podium, 4 of them were from Fit Bodies. WOOHOO :) We are getting so strong as a gym, and that makes it that much more fun to do these competitions.  Can't wait for the new space and more room.....

The downside, I'm sore.  Oh wow, Have not been this sore in a long time, my quads and triceps feel like jell-o.

Well, we are into week 2 of the 21 day detox :) and have found lots of awesome new recipes to try.  Last week we had the old reliables of chicken fingers, jambalaya, and home made mayo for deviled eggs.

Now this week we are branching out and getting a little crazy...

Last night I made Caveman chili but swapped out the turkey for beef, because we just bought 1/2 a cow.  yeah, that's a lot of meat.  Had to go buy a deep freezer to hold it all......Also we added mushrooms.

Then tonight we made Buffalo Chicken Casserole  THANKS Caroline for hooking me up with this awesomeness, we just didn't include the blue cheese obviously.....  I'll probably make this a weekly meal.

And to top it off we made Poppers

Those were awesome.  Bacon, Guac, and peppers, can't get much better than that.  right?

Anyway, looking forward to this week at the gym and then my 10 year reunion this weekend.  Looking forward to seeing everyone from highschool again.  And to watch the Blue Devils play at Flynn Stadium.....I wonder if they will let me down into the locker room.  I guess i'll just have to try and go and see if I get stopped.

Remember that sweat is just weakness leaving the body.....

But
Puke & Rally!

2012-09-04 - 50 fit bodies in one place

Last week kinda flew by for me. I'm not sure if it was work or fun, but it flew by.
It's already September? Where did the year go? Wow. So it's been a year since I joined Fit Bodies and wow what a year it has been. I cant say enough how much it has changed my life for the good. It simply can't be. I'm 100 lbs lighter, I am 100% healthier, and to top it off I have made a bunch of new friends.....
A few of them are in the picture below. From Monday @ the gym, 50 people did the same partner wod together, it was a blast.

So much to reflect on in the past year, but I'll just keep it simple and to the point.
Cheers to the next year and lots of challenges to overcome and experiences to experience. :)

2012-08-27 - an evening in paradise

I wasn't planning on blogging again until the end of the week, but have to perform a system update on my ps3 before I can play Madden 2013, so I'll kill some time while the birds game is on.

Julie and I have decided todo a sugar detox 21.....this is very similar to the whole30 challenge but it's only 21 days and it's a little more strict. The guy at Cuvilized Caveman has pushed this for a while, so we will start that the first of September and 21 days later is the day before we leave for Cancun for our 5 year anniversary trip.......it's been 5 years. Wow. It's flown by.
I'm signed up for the Crossfit at the Corn Crib competition, so look for that September 8....I'm on a team with a friend of mine from the gym Sean. Our team name is FML. Find My Limits. Sean has never been in a competition and I'm looking to push myself to the next level. Seemed fitting. Not sure what we can do for a shirt just yet...lots of ideas maybe someone reading this can help out?

Well it's done updating, that was faster than I thought.

Oh and Pumpking beer is amazing.
